The Volkswagen T25 / T3 1988 Westfalia Club Van with Grey Furniture / Dark Grey Edging and Grey Upholstery Model History.

In June 1988 a rare model called the Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van was introduced. Having a similar layout to the equivalent Westfalia California of that year but with differences to the standard equipment. For example the kitchen unit was slightly different and did not come with a cooker or fridge (although these could be specified as options). Also it had no LPG gas tank or gas fittings. This model was available only with a poptop roof with aero dynamic spoiler on the cab roof. See below for full specification details.

3) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Furniture Specification

The 1988 model year T25 / T3 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van was available with one interior layout and only in pop top form.

VW Westfalia Club Van Pop Top

The VW Westfalia Club Van Pop Top layout consisted of:

1) Combination cupboard 87 cm wide x 45 cm deep on the left behind the drivers seat with sink and locker (suitable for two flame spirit cooker), including cutlery draw, a large cupboard for tableware, Cupboard (where the fridge would be on other models) and a flip up cover over the top.

2) Cupboard unit with integrated freshwater tank.

3) Wardrobe and storage unit over the engine bay.

4) Roof locker below roof bed.

5) Cushion 120 cm wide over the engine bay.

6) 3/4 width rock n roll bed for 2 persons (bed is 188 cm x 120 cm when folded out) with bedding storage area under seat.

7) Rear table on swinging arm (80 cm x 40 cm) with light grey surface finish and dark grey edging trim.

8) Optional (at additional cost) front table on swinging arm (60 cm x 40 cm) with light grey surface finish and dark grey edging trim.

The 1988 model year Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van had light grey furniture and grey velour upholstery the same as the California model.

4) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Upholstery Specification

The 1988 model year Volkswagen Westfalia Joker had light grey furniture and the velour upholstery was grey

This material seems to be very hard wearing so generally wear isn’t a problem.

Curtains were grey with a darker grey / red stripe pattern.

5) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Roof Specification

VW Westfalia Club Van Pop Top Roof Version:

Westfalia fibreglass poptop roof with aero dynamic spoiler over the drivers cab.

Inner lining of roof was a soft flock material.

Canvas had a large opening aperture at the front with a zippable mosquito net.

Fibreglass roof had an opening plastic window (29 cm x 39 cm) with mosquito net and black out curtain.

Two fresh air vents over the sliding door.

Double bed in pop top roof 185 cm x 122 cm.

The double bed in roof on pop tops was a light grey material.

The roof canvas on pop tops was light grey.

6) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Flooring and Carpet Specification

The rear floor was a hard wearing grey lino type material and this was covered by a removable square grey carpet with a non slip rubber backing.

The front carpet in the cab was grey.

7) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Door Trim Specification

Door trims and interior panels were grey vinyl with a matching material insert.

8) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Van Standard Model Specification

Insulation

Insulated on all inner bodywork in the living area with 25 mm thick mineral fibre plates. Floor area has a plywood sheet with bitumen insulation and PVC covering. The side walls and roof panels are made from lined panels.

Curtains

Curtains in the rear living area including curtains to separate the drivers cab area.

Electrical

220 volt External Hook Up with internal outlet socket and safety trip cut out.

3 Transistor Lights 12 Volts.

Freshwater and Wastewater

55 Litre Freshwater tank with electric pump and lockable cap.

20 litre waste water tank.

Kitchen

Combination cupboard 87 cm wide x 45 cm deep on the left behind the drivers seat with sink and locker (suitable for two flame spirit cooker), including cutlery draw, a large cupboard for tableware, Cupboard (where the fridge would be on other models) and a flip up cover over the top.

Living Area

All furniture is five sheet laminated and 15mm thick plywood with a light grey PVC coating and dark grey PVC edging. The upholstery is grey velour material.

Rock N Roll Seat Bed for 2 people in the rear with upholstered cushion over the engine bay and additional removable plastic cover.

Roof locker cupboard above rear seat.

Wardrobe and small cupboard rear left over the engine bay.

Storage unit along the side with 3 stowage areas.

Rotating table (80 cm x 40 cm) on metal arm for rear living area.

Roof storage locker over drivers cab (according to brochure but not sure about this as model was only available in poptop form with roof spoiler above drivers cab so would be no room for storage above drivers cab?)

Roof frame panels on left and right with integrated curtain rails and transistor lights.

Sleeping Area

Double bed when rock n roll bed folded down including cushion over engine bay (188 cm x 120 cm).

Logos

Club Van logos and stripes on the outside of the vehicle.
