The 1983 Volkswagen Watercooled T25 / T3 Westfalia Club Joker Model History. In 1983 at the same time the remodelled watercooled Westfalia Joker was released (with beige furniture) a new higher spec model called the Westfalia Club Joker was added to the range. Available in both Club Joker 1 (Pop Top) and Club Joker 3 (High Top) versions this model also had beige furniture with brown edging. Initially the Club Joker upholstery was a brown material and it had a slightly different layout inside than the Joker with an L-shaped round rear seating arrangement. 3) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Furniture Specification 1983 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker 1 Pop Top Round Seat Version
The VW Westfalia Club Joker 1 (Pop Top) layout consisted of: 1) Combination cupboard 71 cm wide x 50 cm deep on the left behind the drivers seat with sink, two flame cooker with splash plate. The splash plate folds down and can be used to drain dishes after washing. Also the unit has a cutlery draw, a large cupboard for tableware and the fridge. 2) Cupboard unit with integrated freshwater tank. 3) Wardrobe and storage unit over the engine bay. 4) Roof locker below roof bed. 5) Cushion 120 cm wide over the engine bay. 6) 3/4 width rock n roll bed for 2 persons (bed is 188 cm x 120 cm when folded out) with bedding storage area under seat. 7) Rear table on swinging arm (80 cm x 40 cm) with dark brown surface finish and dark brown edging trim. 8) Front table on swinging arm (60 cm x 40 cm) with dark brown surface finish and dark brown edging trim. 4) 1983 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Upholstery Specification The 1983 model year Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker had beige furniture and the upholstery was dark brown with a pattern effect known as “Adagio”.
This material seems to be harder wearing than the earlier options but can still show signs of wear on seat edges etc. The curtains were made from a beige cloth material.
5) Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Roof Specification VW Westfalia Club Joker 1 Pop Top Roof Version: Beige coloured fibre glass roof. Luggage rack over the drivers cab. Inner lining of roof was a soft flock material. Canvas had a large opening aperture at the front with a zippable mosquito net. Fibreglass roof had an opening plastic window (29 cm x 39 cm) with mosquito net. Double bed in pop top roof 185 cm x 122 cm.
VW Westfalia Club Joker 3 High top Roof Version: Beige coloured fibre glass roof. Large plastic double glazed panorama window at the front. Insulated with 25mm insulation. One 400mm x 400mm lifting air vent with mosquito net. 2 x 12 volt lights inside roof area. Front cupboard locker over drivers cabin. Double bed in hightop roof 194 cm x 116 cm. The double bed in both pop top and high top roof had the same dark brown “Adagio” upholstery as the seats. The roof canvas in the pop top was light brown for all 1983 model year Club Jokers.
6)1983-1985 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Flooring and Carpet Specification The rear floor was a multi coloured lino type material and this was covered by a removable square dark brown carpet with a non slip rubber backing.
The front carpet in the cab was a tan coloured brown.
7) 1983-1985 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Door Trim Specification On the 1983 model year Westfalia Club Joker the door trims and seat vinyl were dark brown. The door trim had a matching “Adagio” material padded insert.
8) 1983-1985 Volkswagen Westfalia Club Joker Standard Model Specification Insulation Insulated on all inner bodywork in the living area with 25mm thick mineral fibre plates. Floor area has a plywood sheet with PVC covering. Over the engine bay is insulating noise absorbing mat. The side walls and roof panels are made from dark brown and lighter imitation leather. In some panels there is a padding of matching “Adagio” material. Windows and Curtains On the Club Joker 1 (Pop Top) and Club Joker 3 (High Top) both had 5 tinted and double glazed windows in rear living area. The window above the cooker opens. High quality cotton curtains all round including drivers cabin area. The curtains for the sliding door and front windscreen were clipped on when required. Electrical 220 volt External Hook Up with internal outlet socket and safety trip cut out. Hook up adaptor cable is included. Leisure battery with split charge relay and automatic 220 volt charger. 3 Transistor Lights 12 Volts 8 Watt (two under the storage channel on the left over the kitchen channel and one over the sliding door.) Freshwater and Wastewater 40 Litre Freshwater tank with electric pump and lockable cap. 20 litre waste water tank under the vehicle. Gas Equipment External underbody 8kg LPG tank with Eis-ex (gas preheater for extreme cold temperature use) and 3 tap control. Kitchen Combination cupboard 71cm wide x 50cm deep on the left behind the drivers seat with sink, 2 flame cooker with splash plate. The splash plate folds down and can be used to drain dishes after washing. Also the unit has a cutlery draw, a large cupboard for tableware and a fridge.

Storage rail above kitchen. Living Area All furniture is five sheet laminated and 15mm thick plywood with a beige PVC coating and brown PVC edging. The upholstery is dark brown velour material. The seat rear and side surfaces are brown imitation leather. L-Round seat configuration (Rock N Roll Seat / Bed) for 2 people in the rear with 120 cm wide upholstered cushion over the engine bay.

Small cupboard rear left over the engine bay with two cubby hole shelves.
Rotating table (80 cm x 40 cm) on metal arm for rear living area.

Heating Eberspacher 2300 thermostatically controlled night heater. Logos CLUB JOKER logos on the outside in gold.
